Supplement Facts
onsiderable attention has been paid over the past decade within
the nutritional supplementation community to the unsung benefits of Vitamin D3, and suppressed effects
of its deficiency. I won't go into great detail here, because I do this in the
Essentials 1 page. Sufficient to note that this formulary
is for those who fall into the following category:
- Radical Deficiency. Those who have taken the 25-hydroxyvitamin D test (also called 25(OH)D test), have
found to be deficient, and with the oversight of a naturopath, wish to rapidly increase
their blood levels to 50+ nanograms per milliliter. Note that not all advocates approve
of this approach.
Judson Somerville, M.D. advises a daily intake of 30,000 IU per day
of Vitamin D3, and that is the dosage he takes himself. Jeff Bowles takes 25,000 IU
per day personally. But for remediation purposes, he's taken 100,000 IU per day or more
for weeks at a time. Dr. Michael F. Hollick (see his book at right) takes 2,700 IU per
day personally -- a level which the previous advocates would agree is sufficient
to avoid the more clinically obvious signs of Vitamin D deficiency, but would argue
is insufficient to take advantage of Vitamin D's more aggressive therapeutic properties.
I personally have taken 200,000 IU for weeks at a time
to remediate muscular and joint issues. Regardless, when dealing in these dosage ranges,
it is much easier to take one capsule that contains 100,000 IU than 20 capsules that
contain 5,000 IU each -- and keep in mind that 5,000 IU is the most common dosage
per unit in the Vitamin D3/K2 market.
- Sustained High Dosers. I've known users who take 100,000 IU per day
because they are self-treating rheumatoid arthritis or other serious joint issues.
For those that fall into this category, it's much easier to take one small capsule
than a dozen or more at a time.
- Clinical Research. Those who wish to experiment with high dosing for
brief periods of time.

Chemical Analytical Testing for Purity:
The market is awash with "fake vitamins" sold by foreign companies who produce
fake Certificates of Analysis (COAs). Everyone in the industry knows this.
To assure ourselves and our customers that the raw materials are as represented,
we will periodically update this page with the latest third-party test results.
