Summary of Lab Tests in OMF Patents
U.S. Patent 4,665,898 Tests with treatments of decaying oscillating magnetic fields (OMF) of 5 Tesla (field strength) at a frequency of 8 kHz were performed with resultant positive effects although mammary gland carcinomas induced by a carcinogen are normally very active and increase in size 10 - 30 times bigger in 30 days. Test 1. Tubes of carcinoma cancer cells were placed into the 4-inch coil of a conventional Magneform machine (an oscillating magnetic field generator) and given 8 pulses of OMF. 18 hours later the % of dead cancer cells was around 30%. Test 2. Albino rats with chemical-induced or transplanted tumors were subjected to OMF for a brief duration once daily for 6 days with the resultant average tumor shrinkage being 82%. All of the rats of the control group 1 remained healthy throughout the experiment, exhibiting no adverse reaction to exposure to the magnetic field. Test 3. Rats having primary chemical-induced mammary carcinomas were treated daily for 30 days with 20 pulses of OMF. On day 30, on average, the tumors averaged only 60% larger whereas untreated tumors would average 20 times bigger (+2000%) in size. The test also shows the equally positive test results with lower magnetic intensity (1.2 Tesla) on one tumor with a resultant 12% size reduction after 62 days.
U.S. Patent 4,524,079 Material such as food is exposed to oscillating magnetic fields (OMF) in order to kill microorganisms. Example 1. A sample of milk inoculated with the bacteria Streptococcus thermophilus at 25,000 per square centimeter (cm3) is subjected to 1 pulse of 12T/ 6kHz OMF with a subsequent reduction in live bacteria to 970 which is a 96% reduction. Example 2. Low fat yogurt is inoculated with the yeast Saccharomyces at 3,500/cm3 and exposed to 10 pulses of a 40T/416 kHz OMF with a subsequent reduction in live bacteria to 25 which is a 99% reduction. Example 4. A dough product is mixed with mold spores to give a concentration of 3000 spores/cm3. The chopped rolls were subjected to 1 pulse of 7.5T/8.5 kHz OMF with a resultant concentration of only about 1 spore per cm3 which is a 96.7% reduction.
