Lung Cleansing Protocol

Introduction
In January, 2003, we introduced a formula called Omega UR (UR stands for upper respiratory). It was a very effective "traditional" which we hope to bring back to market in the near future.
Earlier this year (2015) we had an experience where some close friends of ours were in need cleaning out their lungs, so without having Omega UR, we recommended another traditional approach to cleaning out the lungs that works using different mechanisms of action. The purpose of this page is to present the entire protocol so that others who are not familiar with this old and effective herbal treatment may make use of it:

"Smoke . . . Cough . . . Sip . . . Repeat"
This protocol consists of two material components and one contiguous process:
  1. "The Expectorant Tea" -- this consists of equal portions of three medicinal teas : slippery elm (Ulmus rubra, using the crushed or powdered leaves), which acts as a demulcent, protecting lung tissue for the duration of the process; butcher's broom (Ruscus aculeatus), crushed / powdered root and/or twigs), which acts as a deobstruent, clearing the lung passages and breaking up phlegm; and white or common horehound (Marrubium vulgare, which assists in alleviating pain associated with coughing during the process. Use crushed leaves.
  2. "Smokes" -- This will, no doubt, seem counterintuitive to many. After all, many of the people who will use this protocol are doing so because they have abused their lungs by smoking. (The biggest reason to now stop smoking is goes beyond the established toxic substances, like tar, arsenic, cyanide, carbon monoxide, etc. The larger issue is that commercial tobacco contains radioactive compounds.)
The function of "smoking" in this case, however, is to react with the effects created by the tea. Mix 50% crushed tobacco leaves (you can use the easy-to-obtain (Nicotiana tabacum, though here in South America, we use the stronger Nicotiana rustica -- in which case you should make every effort to obtain organically grown product), along with crushed (cannabis (marijuana) leaves.
  3. "The Process" -- Prepare your tea and have your "smokes" ready. The process itself is simple and is best performed at night before going to bed: sit down and be focussed while you're doing it. Are you ready? Take three or four deep inhalations of your freshly made hybrid cigarettes (#2 above) and then cough. It will be difficult at first, but try. Then take three or four sips of your tea.
Repeat this simple process over a period of about 30 minutes.
  4. "The Aftermath" -- In the morning, if not during the course of the night, you will feel the urge to cough up phlegm. Sometimes the mucus that comes up is of the usual yellow and green pus-y variety, but if you've been a long-term smoker, or have subclinic or full-blown emphysema or COPD, or otherwise heavily impacted lungs, expect to see all manner of black, soot-like garbage come up.
The worse the conditions of the lungs, the more you should repeat this process. You may need to follow this process for five or six evenings before you really feel like you're breathing into clean lungs again.
