![]() Eczema is a form of dermatitis: an acute or chronic cutaneous inflammation -- more commonly found in persons with thin, dry skin. Scabs, crusts, scales, erythema, papules, vesicles, and pustules can be found alone or in combination. They can be dry or they can produce a watery discharge, with thickening infiltration. Burning and itching often accompany other symptoms, and resulting lesions pose another risk to the sufferer: infection by other pathogenic organism. The No-Brainers: Sufferers should avoid local irritants (such as perfumes, wool, detergents), extreme temperature changes, and emotional stress. Those inclined to "itch" affected areas should keep nails short, and bathing should occur with lukewarm water and non-fat, non-perfumed soap. |

Nonetheless, a "good doctor" should be considered a requisite starting point. | |
